Formed in the late 80's, GNR released their first album "Appetite for Destruction" in 1987. After their first album, and a couple of tours, they became world-famous!
The band's members began as
* Axl Rose - vocals
* Tracii Guns - lead guitar
* Izzy Stradlin - rhythm guitar
* Ole Beich - bass
* Rob Gardner - drums
The name came from (obviously) Axl and Tracii's name. In June, 1985 (about a month after the first formation), came MY favorite combination of GNR. * Axl Rose - lead vocals
* Slash - guitar
* Izzy Stradlin - guitar, backing vocals
* Duff McKagan - bass, backing vocals
* Steven Adler - drums By 1996, the band made several changes in members.
IN 1996, Slash left the band leaving them with * Axl Rose - lead vocals, piano
* Paul Tobias - guitar, backing vocals
* Dizzy Reed - piano, keyboards, backing vocals
* Duff McKagan - bass, backing vocals
* Matt Sorum - drums Matt and Duff soon followed, and they formed a new band. Called Velvet Revolver. But that's another story.
